2018 Player of the Year and Coach of the Year

The Northern Virginia Football Hall of Fame recognizes Players of the Year from each participating club along with Coaches of the Year from Anklebiters, National, Central and American Conferences.  For Players of the Year, coaches from each team in the 80 lb to 155 lb weight divisions.  The nominations submitted were very well written and competitive.  Players are considered based on their team contributions, along with their school and community activities.  The nominations were all very competitive and impressive and the selection was difficult.  Along with their football accomplishments, these players, and I would venture many of our BRYC Football players, play significant roles in their schools and communities; they are great citizens indeed.  The 2018 Player of the Year from BRYC Football is William "Billy" Warter of the 100 lb Bruins.  Billy has been a player with us 2014, beginning as an 80 lb player.

Coaches of the Year selections come from the Executive Committee of the Fairfax County Youth Football League.  As with the players, there are some really great coaches in the FCYFL from all of the conferences and these decision are also very difficult.  For 2018, the American Conference Coach of the Year is BRYC Football's Adam Guild, head coach of the 100lb Bruins.  Adam started his BRYC Football career as a player then later was an assistant coach for two of our Hall of Fame coaches, Harvey Hottle and Dick Holmes.  In addition to coaching the Bruins, Adam is a mentor to other BRYC coaches and is highly respected.  He has been a proponent for our continuing coaching education and help with many of our off-season activities. Adam has been the American coach at the 80, 90 and 100 lb weight classes the last 3 yerasr and had a great season in 2017, culminating in the County championship.

Billy and Adam will be recognized at the 2018 Northern Virginia Hall of Fame Banquet to be held on Sunday, March 4 at the McLean Hilton.  In addition to these awards, the Hall of Fame recognizes high school players and coaches of the year, along with the induction of several Hall of Fame candidates and recognition of others for their contributions to the Fairfax County Youth Football League.
